Living with view to the life & living in the life in the view.
Looking at the bright sides, explore it, enjoy it!
The good life...............you just get one chance to create it!
No one bring it to you. You need to catch the opportunity and work out your own footpaths!
In a stunning setting with a breath taking viwe over the lagoon and the surrounding hills, covered by Atlantic Rain forest, you can enjoy the magic silence in the morning.
Looking at the local fisherman's when they catch the fish or prawns with their net. In the same way it was done hundred years ago.
Just one hour or so east from the busy metropolitan city, mentioned as the worlds most beautiful city by experienced globetrotters.
In the background you can hear the music from the massive Atlantic Ocean waves and song from several species of birds. All composed by mother earth.
From time to time a few parrots can pay a visit to your garden for a rest in the palms.
In the evenings the nature sometimes give you a spectacular gift, painting a continuously changing picture no artist can match, when the day slowly turn into night.
Neighbors of mixed heritage bring their chairs outside the gate and meet to talk about who should get their votes as next regional governor in the coming election. Who will add most value to the local community? Also important is who will fight for a few more "dinero" in monthly minimum salary. Who are willing to share the growing national wealth with the poor part of the population? Or they just talk about life in general.
The gardener, who live with his family in the neighborhood, drop in to see if everything is OK and looking after the pool. His nick name is ”Ninginjo”, that means little nigger boy. He is proud of this name!
Most of all he just like to have a talk with someone he believe understand his importance in the local community.
Living in small shad on a property nearby where his wife is housekeeper, make him proud of his status.
He own a bike that bring him around in the district for temporary work. Also he has a few hand tools in addition to a makita.
(Makita is a trademark for El tools. However they call all El machines that can cut granite, marble etc for makita).
This is all his fortune in this world, but he make his daily bread out of this and feed his family. All he ask for is respect. To be respected for his value as a human and for what he is.
It took a while understanding that he was an alphabet
with minimum or zero formal education.
How I realize this is well worth a few lines. One day we need to replace a window in the second floor. we not really need a window there, just some daylight. So the decision was make in the ”board of the house”
In fact I amt he chairman, but with an Italiano-Brazilero Donna de Casa (lady of the house) my vote not count. Practically I am reduced to an board advisor no one listening to. Or more correct an unpaid butler with meeting right and right (read duty) to listening.
The Brazileros strength are not to listen, it is to talk. And they have a never empty well of verbal flood to share to anyone willing or not willing to listen. Mix this with Italian blood and any gringo are lost in this "tango”!
Well, decision was taken. Glass bricks both in up stair suite and en suite bathroom in master suite. In two second I calculated that we need 40 peaces and from Internet I see that they sell this for around 10 local dinero each. Including the cement stuff it should be roughly 500 dinero.
But no, Donna de Casa called for Ninginjo. Of course how can a gringo understand this?
Our nice friend arrived quickly…WOW work! Extra work!
I make my decision and start making my coffee. Better to leave this dialogue to Donna de Casa!
After consumption of the coffee that took me around two hours, it looks like they had a kind of agreement.
Ninginjo ride his iron horse to Bacaxa and was surprisingly back in half an hour. Probably he not met anyone to talk to?
He brought with him a note from the construction material store with a total figure at 1500 local dinero!
Than I asked Donna de Casa if she like to listen to me and we could probably save thousand grand. In fact she was not very interested to listening, but the thousand dinero make the magic, especial when I mentioned that Niteroi was a part of this!
(Let me explain: Donna de Casa grow up in “west end” Icarai in Niteroi. Acording to the “music”, there is no place in the world like Niteroi. Honestly I can partly agree. Better view to the most beautiful city in the world, Rio, I doubt you find! In addition you find one of the most spctacularl masterpiese of a building ever created, the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum designed by Oscar Niemeyer ).
Two hours later she called me from Niteroi and all was arranged. Transport next day by a young family member who like to pay us a visit and enjoy the late night at the local nightclub.
Bill: All included, plus some cans with painting, slightly more than 500 dinero. Worth to mention is that I never asked how much she spend on the shopping centers. However, never understanding woman's brain, I have an imagination that if they save 100, they can spend 200! How they ballance this is easy match, just look into the next bank note..........
